With the summer transfer window approaching its conclusion, there has been another change to Werder’s Bundesliga squad: Samuel Mbangula has joined Bologna with immediate effect. Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football at the Green-Whites, confirmed the loan move on Tuesday. The two clubs have also agreed an option to buy.
“Samuel had a difficult first year with us. An opportunity has now arisen at short notice which is currently the best solution for everyone involved. We wish Samuel all the best for his season in Italy, and we will be following him closely,” said Niemeyer on Mbangula’s move.
Mbangula joined Werder from Juventus in the summer of 2025. During the 2025/26 season, he made 27 competitive appearances, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
