Jens Stage ruled out for several months

In what will come as a tough blow for the Green-Whites, Jens Stage sustained a serious muscular injury to his thigh during Werder Bremen’s final training session on Saturday and will be sidelined for several months. The extent of the injury was ascertained following medical examinations on Sunday morning.
“It’s a truly bitter pill to swallow for Jens, and we’ll now do everything we can to ensure that his recovery runs as smoothly as possible and that he can return to fitness as soon as he can. Given the severity of the injury, however, we don’t expect Jens to return to the pitch again this year. It’s obviously a major blow for us as a team too, because Jens is a real key figure for us, both on and off the pitch,” head coach Daniel Thioune said.
Over the coming days, Werder Bremen’s medical team will work with the 29-year-old to determine the next steps in his treatment.
