Werder Bremen hand Luca Höcker professional contract

Positive news from the youth academy at SV Werder Bremen: right-back Luca Höcker has signed his first professional contract. This was announced on Wednesday morning by Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football at Werder Bremen.
“Luca Höcker fits very well with our sporting philosophy and strategic approach of integrating young players with high potential into the Bundesliga squad. In training sessions with the first team, Luca has already demonstrated his qualities,” explains Peter Niemeyer. “We are delighted to be able to continue supporting Luca in his development.”
Luca Höcker is looking ahead to the future with great determination: “I am very proud to sign my first professional contract with a club that has placed great trust in me over many years. The discussions with the people steering the ship have motivated me to keep working hard and take the next step in my career.”
Höcker joined Werder Bremen’s academy in July 2022 from VfL Osnabrück. The defender was a regular starter for the Green-Whites in their 2024/25 DFB Junior Cup-winning campaign. In the second half of the season just gone, the 19-year-old made the step up to the U23s, contributing one goal and one assist in 11 Regionalliga Nord appearances.
