No one injured after partial stand collapse

An incident occurred at the Weserstadion on Wednesday afternoon during modernisation work. While renovations were being carried out in part of the VIP area, where window panes were due to be removed, a load-bearing pillar was accidentally damaged. This led to a partial collapse of the upper-tier stand area in Block 53.
No one was injured in the incident. There is no danger of other sections of the stand collapsing.
“We are currently analysing the situation and the damage caused, and hope to be able to restore the stand as quickly as possible,” said Hans-Jörg Otto, managing director of Bremer Weserstadion GmbH.
