United in green and white: Werder and hummel unveil new home kit

SV Werder Bremen have unveiled their new home kit for 2026/27 together with partner hummel. Featuring a striped design in Werder’s classic green and white, the shirt celebrates the club’s roots and unites the wider Werder family.
Green and white are an inseparable part of SV Werder Bremen’s DNA. To mark the launch, athletes from across the Werder family come together, with football, handball, table tennis, athletics, chess and breakdancing all represented. “Werder has been green and white for generations, and that identity reaches far beyond football – it is built on a very special sense of togetherness,” said Werder CEO Klaus Filbry. “Our partner hummel has once again done an outstanding job with the new home kit. The shirt combines SV Werder’s proud tradition with a modern design. We’re also delighted that, as we head into the fourth year of our partnership with MATTHÄI, the team will once again debut the new home kit in Verden, where the company is based. It’s the perfect setting for the shirt’s first outing in a match.”
As in previous years, head coach Daniel Thioune’s side will play their first friendly in Verden, where main partner MATTHÄI is based. The Green-Whites will visit fifth-tier side FC Verden 04 at the Stadion am Berliner Ring on Saturday, 18th July 2026 at 15:00 CEST. “This fixture has become a key part of the kit launch,” said Katarina Breves, member of the MATTHÄI management board. “We’re really looking forward to welcoming Werder back to Verden again this year and giving fans their first chance to see the new home kit in a match.”

The green-and-white striped pattern and the centrally placed Werder diamond, complete with championship star, are the shirt’s standout features. Another eye-catching detail is the chevron pattern woven into the fabric, which creates a mix of matte and subtle gloss effects. The hummel logo, the classic green-and-white hummel chevrons on the sides and shoulders, and the MATTHÄI logo complete the familiar Werder look. Werder’s motto, “Lebenslang grün-weiß” – green and white for life – appears on the back below the collar as the finishing touch.

Fans buying the new home kit from the Werder Fan-Welt can now also support a good cause by rounding up their total at the till to the nearest euro. Fans can also choose their own donation amount for the SV Werder Bremen Foundation. The donations collected will go primarily towards Werder’s SPIELRAUM concept, which promotes participation in sport, as well as projects in Bremen and the surrounding region focused on sport, education and violence prevention.
