On Saturday, 21st March 2026 at 15:30 CET, SV Werder Bremen will travel to take on VfL Wolfsburg in the hunt for three crucial points in the battle for survival. Head coach Daniel Thioune gave an update on who will feature in the match against the Green-Whites rivals in the standings. Here’s what you need to know about the squad:
Senne Lynen (adductor issues) will be unavailable for SVW’s clash against VfL Wolfsburg. “We’re currently looking a bit thin in terms of the squad, but we’re not down to the bare bones just yet. Senne has problems with his adductor. The aim at the moment is that he’ll be back in action for us after the international break. He’s irreplaceable for us, but we had to replace him last weekend, too. We’ll have to tinker around a bit,” emphasised Thioune.
Jens Stage’s suspension is also frustrating from a Werder point of view. Last weekend, the Dane was booked for the fifth time this season and will only be able to watch from the sidelines in Wolfsburg as a result. “Jens always has an impact. His words carry weight, he’s one of our leaders, and he’ll certainly have something to say to the boys ahead of the game despite his suspension,” added Thioune.
Jovan Milošević (back problems), Maximilian Wöber (muscle issues), Amos Pieper (minor operation) and Wesley Adeh (ligament tear) are all still unfit to play. Julian Malatini, who sustained a syndesmosis ligament tear against Mainz and underwent surgery successfully on Wednesday, is also unavailable.
Mitchell Weiser (cruciate ligament tear) and Victor Boniface (knee surgery) are still sidelined with long-term injuries.
