SV Werder Bremen have signed Ludovit Reis from Club Brugge, as announced by Peter Niemeyer, the club’s head of professional football, on Friday.
“We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Ludo. Our talks with him went very well and we were able to convince him of what we could offer him at Werder,” Niemeyer shared. “His style of play is a great fit for us and he will also provide us with additional options in midfield.”
Head coach Daniel Thioune is also looking forward to the 26-year-old’s arrival in Bremen. “He’s a hard runner, wins possession often and is also able to pose a threat on goal. He’s also got a strong technical ability. His strengths are as a defensive or central midfielder, and he will be able to help us with the quality that he brings.”
“Werder are a close-knit club and everyone who knows me knows that I love that sort of atmosphere at a club,” Reis said. “My talks with the club’s management team left me with a positive feeling and I’m really looking forward to taking up a new challenge at Werder.”
Reis is a former Netherlands U21 international, in addition to also holding Slovakian citizenship. After making his way up through the Groningen academy, he then moved to Barcelona in 2019, before joining 2. Bundesliga side VfL Osnabrück on loan in 2020. A year later, Reis joined Hamburger SV, where he remained for four years before joining Belgian side Club Brugge last summer. He featured in a combined 143 games in the second division for both Osnabrück and Hamburger SV (20 goals). Reis made a total of 12 competitive appearances for Club Brugge last term.
