SV Werder Bremen is delighted to confirm that the club have secured a new addition to the attacking department on the Weser. Darwin Soylu has made the switch from VfL Wolfsburg to the Green-Whites, joining the club on a permanent basis from this summer. Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football at SVW, announced the signing on Wednesday afternoon.
“Darwin Soylu is a technically gifted and creative midfield talent, who constantly poses a threat going forward through his skill in dribbling and passing. He is a young player on a strong development path, who we were able to persuade to commit his future to Werder by demonstrating a clear development plan. Darwin will start pre-season preparations with the first team. It’ll also be important that he gets sufficient time on the pitch during this development phase of his career,” said Peter Niemeyer.
Darwin Soylu left Hertha BSC in 2021 to join the youth academy at VfL Wolfsburg. This season, the 19-year-old has made 25 appearances for his club at U19 level, racking up 15 goals and 19 assists. The current campaign has also seen the starlet make his way into the Türkiye youth set-up, and he even netted a brace on his debut for the U19 national team in November.
