SV Werder Bremen will be without forward Victor Boniface in the coming months. The 25-year-old will undergo surgery on his injured knee on Saturday (10/1) with Prof. Dr Christian Fink in Innsbruck. The decision follows an examination with the knee specialist on Friday.
Prof. Fink’s recommendation aligns with the assessments of the medical teams at Werder Bremen and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, all of whom were involved in the process. Following discussions in Austria, Victor Boniface agreed to proceed with surgery.
“We’re pleased that we’ve now found a solution and that Victor will undergo surgery. That gives clarity for everyone involved,” explained Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football at Werder Bremen. “Given the rehabilitation process, we no longer expect Victor to feature for Werder again this season.” The loan agreement between Werder Bremen and Bayer 04 Leverkusen will remain in place until the end of the season.
