Amos Pieper sidelined following knee procedure

It's bitter news for Werder Bremen this morning, as it has been determined that centre-half Amos Pieper will be unavailable for selection in the near future. After sustaining a deep flesh wound to his right knee during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat away at Bayer Leverkusen, the defender was required to undergo a medical procedure.
“As Amos had been complaining of increasing pain in his knee, further examinations were carried out, during which an infection was found, making the procedure necessary. Fortunately, no structural damage to the knee was found. We hope that Amos will be fit again as soon as possible. However, he will be out of action for several weeks,” said head coach Horst Steffen.
