Werder head coach Florian Kohfeldt can once again rely on Ömer Toprak for the upcoming away game against Bayer 04. The centre back returned to team training during this week and is in the squad for the Leverkusen game, as confirmed by Kohfeldt at the press conference. Even Yuya Osako is in question for the weekend.

Ömer Toprak will be available after his return to the team training for the upcoming match in Leverkusen. However, the head coach didn’t want to announce yet whether the return of the summer signing means he’ll be in the starting eleven. He is still not sure which centre back duo he’ll put out on Saturday: "It's the players who give us the greatest chance of winning. Everyone has given me a reason to think they deserve a place."

In contrast to Toprak, Kohfeldt couldn’t say yet whether Yuya Osako will be in the squad: "With Yuya, anything is possible. He could start, or he could not be in the squad at all. Ömer is already a step ahead, but it's good that Yuya is back earlier than expected."

For the Japanese international it would be the first time he has been in the squad since the fourth match against Union Berlin, during which the Werder striker suffered a thigh injury and has since had to sit out team training until this Tuesday.
