SV Werder Bremen continued their preparation for this weekend's home match against FC Bayern München on Wednesday morning. Compared to the previous day, head coach Daniel Thioune was able to welcome back two players to training.
Centre-back Niklas Stark has rejoined full team training as planned after recently managing his workload inside the Weserstadion due to hip problems. The defender has yet to feature in a competitive match in the new year but could soon become another option in the backline for the final stretch of the league campaign.
In addition, Justin Njinmah is back out on the training pitches. The 25-year-old missed out at the start of the week due to illness but has now recovered. Leonardo Bittencourt, however, is sidelined with muscular problems after having to cut short Tuesday’s session. He is due to undergo an MRI scan later today.
Meanwhile, Maximilian Wöber’s return will still take several weeks after a structural calf injury was diagnosed. Amos Pieper (minor procedure) and long-term absentees Mitchell Weiser (ACL tear) and Victor Boniface (knee surgery) are also unavailable.
