SV Werder Bremen have their new centre-forward. Jovan Milošević arrived in Bremen on Saturday and, following a successful medical check and the signing of his contract, sat down with WERDER.DE to give his first interview at his new club. The 20-year-old forward, on loan from VfB Stuttgart, explains why he chose Bremen for the next step in his career and which familiar faces he’s looking forward to being reunited with here.

WERDER.DE: Moin Jovan, welcome to Bremen. Despite the heavy snowfall, did you have a good journey here?

Jovan Milošević: Yes, thanks. Of course, everyone knows that travelling through Germany has been difficult over the past few days. In the end, though, it was worth it and I’m happy to be here. I’m looking forward to the new challenges.

WERDER.DE: We’re very happy to have you here as well. Until recently, you were leading the line for Partizan Belgrade, and this winter you returned to your parent club, Stuttgart. Why did you decide to take the next step in Bremen?

Jovan Milošević: The most important thing for me was to play in the Bundesliga. Werder are a great club, somewhere where young players get a chance. For me, it was a win-win situation.

WERDER.DE: You’ve drawn plenty of attention to yourself this season with an impressive record, having racked up 16 competitive goals and five assists for Partizan. How much confidence are you taking with you to Werder?

Jovan Milošević: Of course, I have a lot of confidence, but I want to stay grounded. So I’d say it’s at a good level, but not more than that.

WERDER.DE: Another particular highlight was surely your debut for the Serbia national team in November. What does that mean to you?

Jovan Milošević: I’ve said before that it was a dream come true for me. I’ve also come to Bremen to keep my place in the national setup. I want to work hard towards that.

WERDER.DE: Miloš Veljković was also part of the squad at your debut, even though he didn’t play. Do you know each other, and did you talk about Werder?

Jovan Milošević: No, to be honest, I didn’t ask him directly. Everything happened very quickly, and I don’t know him that well. We met in the national team, and I can only say good things about him.

WERDER.DE: Another connection we found is with Isaac Schmidt, whom you played with at FC St. Gallen.

Jovan Milošević: We didn’t speak before I came to Bremen, but yes, we know each other from St. Gallen. We weren’t extremely close, but we were friends when we played together. I’m looking forward to seeing him again as soon as possible.

WERDER.DE: You made your Bundesliga debut for Stuttgart at just 18, though it was limited to a few brief appearances. Do you feel you’ve taken another step forward in your development since then?

Jovan Milošević: Yes, definitely. I’ve matured, and I think now is the right time to take the next step.

WERDER.DE: The fans are certainly excited about Werder’s new striker. How would you describe yourself as a player?

Jovan Milošević: I just love playing football. I hope I can give the fans something to get excited about with my goals and assists, but also through my movement.

WERDER.DE: Then we wish you a great start and look forward to seeing you on the pitch soon!
