Jens Stage has retained his title as Werder’s Player of the Season. With important goals, including his brace in the Nordderby, he played a crucial role in the Green-Whites securing Bundesliga survival. The 29-year-old once again underlined his importance as a leader this season, and the fans showed their appreciation by voting him Player of the Season in an Instagram poll.
The Denmark international came out on top in the vote on SVW’s Instagram story with 58% of the votes. Mio Backhaus finished second with 37%, followed by Romano Schmid (3%) and Marco Friedl (2%) in third and fourth place respectively.
Stage once again stood out this season above all for his goal threat from midfield. For the second year in a row, he finished as Werder’s leading goalscorer with 10 league goals, while also providing two assists. He also started all 29 of his appearances this season.
