Once again, a ringing was followed by a big surprise. Through their call campaign, SV Werder Bremen have already contacted more than 2,000 members and season ticket holders over the age of 70, and have been met with some astonished reactions. This week, however, the Werder employees have been ringing the doorbells of those in need.
The 19 trips in total went as far as Garrel, about an hour’s drive away from the Bremen City Gate. With them, the Green-White representatives had care packages, filled with essential everyday items: drinks, pasta, bread, potatoes, toilet paper, coffee and much more. Among those who helped out were President Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald and Scout Frank Ordenewitz, who has already spoke in detail about the successful call campaign “Help Together, Call Together” which 39 employees from nine different departments have taken part in.
The recipients were all met with huge excitement, said Dr. Hess-Grunewald. “Everyone was delighted that the club care about them and appreciated it. Lots of people told me afterwards it was a big surprise for them, that they look back on fondly. It’s good and right to look after them in this difficult time,” said the Werder President.
The campaign was supported by Werder partners VILSA, ABInBev, Carl Kühne, Combi, Krosse Kerle, Molkerei Ammerland, Mondelez and AZUL, who provided the care packages. SV Werder also distributes other products to those in need through the “Verein für Innere Mission in Bremen”.
