SV Werder get matchday 22 of the Bundesliga 2 underway on Friday 11th February away to Hansa Rostock at the Ostseestadion (18:30 CET), and they’ll be cheered on by the 500 Green-Whites fans in attendance.

Squad news: Oscar Schönfelder and Abdenego Nankishi will definitely be unavailable for this match, and there are still question marks surrounding first-team regulars Milos Veljkovic and Felix Agu’s involvement (read detailed squad news here).

The top 6 all still very much in contention

Recent meetings: Werder have a good record against Hansa Rostock, winning 14 of the 26 competitive matches between the sides, meanwhile Rostock have emerged victorious on seven occasions and there have been five draws. SVW won this season’s reverse fixture 3-0 at the wohninvest WESERSTADION thanks to debutant Marvin Ducksch’s brace and a 90th-minute goal from Nicolai Rapp to round off victory.

Familiar faces: Four former Werder players (first team and/or reserves) are currently part of Rostock’s squad in Kevin Schumacher, Lukas Fröde, Tobias Schwede and Björn Rother.

The current league table: The Bundesliga 2 table continues to be as tight as it has been for a long time, with just two points separating first and sixth place. SVW currently find themselves in third place on 38 points. A win could see them go top of the league, but if they lose and results don’t go their way, they could drop out of the promotion places, in what is a very exciting race. Our upcoming opponents Rostock currently occupy 12th place in the table.

Personal records: Marvin Ducksch has scored in each of the last six league matches, equalling his personal best which he achieved in June 2020.

Werder’s longest winning streak: Bremen have won all of their last five matches against Hansa Rostock, their longest ongoing winning streak against any current Bundesliga 2 side.
