Marvin Ducksch: “You have to say that we started the game well and we did what we set out to do. But then after the 20th minute, we didn’t play so well, and we’ll need to analyse that next week. Despite that, we deserved to win today.”
Niclas Füllkrug: “I think we started the game well, but then we had a couple of problems. The 3-0 sounds good, but I think we could still improve somewhat. Düsseldorf did better after the 20th minute and put us under some pressure. But you mustn’t forget that we’ve just had a long break and many of the players who played today had only trained a little bit before the game. Because of this, we can be pleased with the 3-0 win.”
Ole Werner: “When you look at the result, you would say it’s the perfect start to the year. We kept a clean sheet and at the end of the day we won the game convincingly. But in truth, our chances and goals only came after the red card. We also lost control of the game somewhat after a good start, and the game became much more balanced. We’ll certainly be looking to improve on that. The bottom line is, however, that wins still have to be earned and we worked hard for ours today. It’s a nice feeling to begin the new year with a win, and we’ll put another good shift in next week at training to give us the best possible chance of getting three points in Paderborn.”
