SV Werder Bremen will head to preseason training camp in Zillertal on Friday. Head coach Florian Kohfeldt is looking forward to the 10-day camp, saying “We are looking forward to being able to travel to Zillertal, despite the current situation. We will be taking the majority of our first-team squad with us as well."

Kohfeldt was also able to provide a first look at which players will be taking part in the preseason camp. Maik Nawrocki from the Werder U23s will join the senior squad for camp for the first time. The 19-year-old Bremen native signed his first professional contract with the Green-Whites in February 2020. “He has shown a tremendous development,” Kohfeldt said about why the centre-back has been selected to travel with the first team.

Fellow centre-backs Niklas Moisander and Milos Veljkovic will not be able to take part in all of team training. Moisander is currently dealing with a calf injury, while Veljkovic is still taking part in individual training following the muscle strain he sustained during the relegation playoff against Heidenheim. Christian Groß will not join the team at training camp, and will instead remain in Bremen for personal reasons.

In addition to Moisander, Yuya Osako (personal reasons) and Nick Woltemade (load management) also did not take part in the final training session in Bremen ahead of the training camp. All three will, however, travel to Munich with the squad before the journey continues to Zillertal.
