For Kevin Möhwald, everything went according to plan against Arminia Bielefeld. I will midfielder was substituted on in the 64th minute and scored 11 minutes later to increase the lead to 2-0. In the end it helped us on our way to a massive away victory. “ we took a step in the right direction ,” said Möh, who was also keen to stress that Werder keep the focus for the tough games to come.

“It makes for a good night’s sleep but things aren’t over yet,” says the midfielder to sum up his thoughts after the win. The only thing preventing Werder from forgetting about the relegation battle entirely is the number of games remaining. “Everyone in the team knows that there are still 30 points to fight for in the last ten games. That’s a fair few so plenty could still change.”

Möhwald: "We’ve already shown how to approach them"

Möhwald, who scored his first goal of the season in Bielefeld, highlighted what the “big points” meant for the club in the rearranged game against Arminia. “It gives us confidence. Before this week, we said that we had to be at the races because we were playing games against direct rivals, Köln and Bielefeld.” The two games were not Werder’s finest performances of the season but the players did their “duty”, as Kevin Möhwald describes it.

The fresh confidence could do the Green-Whites some good in the next few games. On Saturday, we have another game at home to Bayern Munich. “ it’s always hard against Bayern, but I believe that we showed earlier this season how best to approach them,” says Möhwald. His teammate Josh Sargent is also excited for the match and the chance to “show that we can stick with these players.”
