Werder begin the year with a 2-2 draw

For a training match, the meeting between SV Werder and AC Monza had something to offer. After 100' hard minutes, the match ended in a draw with two goals apiece. After a quiet opening phase, Monza took the lead through Marco Fossati (22'), Marco Friedl hit back moments later (25'). Before the halfway mark, Maximilian Eggestein fired Werder into the lead (33'). Stefanos Kapino was in the thick of the action in the second half, denying the Italians on two occasions. But he was powerless to stop the equaliser in the 71st minute. 

Werder Starting XI: Pavlenka - Toprak, Rashica, Langkamp, Moisander, Sargent, Klaassen, Friedl, M.Eggestein, Goller und Bargfrede.

Bench: Plogmann - Osako, J.Eggestein, Straudi and Groß.

51': Florian Kohfoldt makes wholesale changes. Apart from Eggestein, it's a completely new team: Kapino - Lang, Pizarro, Sahin, Rieckmann, J. Eggestein, Straudi, Gruev, M. Eggestein, Groß und Woltemade.

60': Stefanos Kapino makes a wonderful save to deny Cosimo Chirico!

71': Monza hit back through substitute Ettore Gliozzi, who converts from short range.

77': Kapino with another great save, this time he keeps the scoreline level as the Italians hit Werder on the break.

100. Min: Full time! A long evening of football is over in Mallorca.

Conclusion: At the end, Werder had no time to rescue a victory agaisnt the leaders of the Italian third division. Werder were the better team over the course of the game and scored two well-earned goals. Monza didn't give up, and honours were shared in Mallorca.
