There are times when you simply don’t want to stop what you are doing. Kevin Möhwald went through one of these phases shortly before the Bundesliga winter break. “When you go on a run for the first time in a while, you naturally want to carry on. If it had been down to me, I would’ve like the matches to have continued,” said the 25 year-old, who managed to work his way into Florian Kohfeldt’s starting lineup for Werder’s final matches before Christmas.

December was a very successful month for Werder’s number six, Kevin Möhwald. The summer signing from Nürnberg scored his first Green-Whites goal in the home clash with Fortuna Düsseldorf and featured in 345 minutes of Bundesliga action. It is clear that he wants to build on this progress. “I want to continue from where I left off at the end of the Hinrunde. “It isn’t a no brainer but I simple want to continue to develop,” said the midfielder.

However, Möhwald doesn’t just want to improve his technical play. “I’m a player who likes to take on responsibility. My personal aim is to become a leader in the squad in the future,” said the Erfurt born playmaker.

Werder head coach Florian Kohfeldt has played an important role in Möhwald’s recent development since he arrived in Bremen. “The coach has given me a lot of tips for where I can improve my performances,” explained Möhwald, who suffered an injury in pre-season and has had to work his way back into contention.

The next step for the midfielder is the upcoming match against Hannover 96, the first competitive match of 2019 for the Green-Whites. “We should concentrate on playing the same football as we were at the end on the Hinrunde. If we do this on Saturday, then we will have a very good chance of winning this match,” said Möhwald, who wants to play his part on the pitch for Werder.
