When SV Werder Bremen host Eintracht Frankfurt at the wohninvest WESERSTADION on Sunday (12.11.23, 17:30 CET), it seems like there are guaranteed to be goals. The guests have shown how strong they are in front of goal in their last four games, scoring eleven goals, and they want to remain in striking distance of the European football places. SVW have also proved their attacking quality on a number of occasions – most recent in the 2-2 draw in Wolfsburg. The team want to take that next step against Frankfurt.

Team news: Having been plagued by injuries for some time, it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel for Werder. Nicolai Rapp is an option again having overcome illness. Only Jiri Pavlenka, Naby Keita and Christian Groß will be unavailable to head coach Ole Werner for the game against Frankfurt.

Ole Werner on Eintracht Frankfurt: "They are a team with a lot of talent and speed, who are very well-drilled defensively. They are getting better and better at putting this together on the pitch and in terms of their results. We are setting up for a tight game against a top opponent, where Frankfurt are definitely the favourite, but we have the self-belief that we can win with a good performance against them.”

Strong at home against strong away

Previous games: SV Werder and Eintracht Frankfurt will meet for the 105th time in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Statistically, the Green-Whites just have their noses in front, having won 43 times to Frankfurt’s 38. However, Frankfurt won the last meeting between the two sides 2-0 at home, as Werder travelled to Frankfurt on matchday 21 of last season.

Likely to score away from home: Last matchday, Frankfurt recorded a comfortable 3-0 win against 1. FC Union Berlin. In this game they didn’t just score three goals for the third league game in a row, but were also able to register their second away win in a row. The last time that SGE managed to win three away games in a row is slightly further back though, with Frankfurt last recording three away wins in a row back in the 2019/20 season with wins against VfL Wolfsburg, Hertha BSC, and then finally against SV Werder Bremen. Werder currently have good form at home and have already been able to celebrate three wins in front of their home fans.

Strong one-on-one: Frankfurt are among the strongest teams in duels in the league, winning an average of 198 duels per game. As a result, they also don’t give their opponents hardly any clear-cut chances, and if they do they have Kevin Trapp behind them. He has the highest save percentage in the league, with 80% of shots saved.
