Frank Baumann on...

…the training camp: “After this training camp we will be able to draw some good conclusions. We've also learned a few things tactically. The team has pulled together well with just a few absences. That's not a given during preseason. We've had a really good program, basically. The focus was different from last year. Now we are already well-positioned but there is always more work to be done. After all, it's the first full preseason with the new coaching staff and there's also new players who have arrived. The transfer window is still open, of course, and we're still keeping our eyes on things in that regard.”

…the transfer window: “We always have to be ready. Something extraordinary could happen at any moment, like a crazy offer for a player or a serious injury - something that we obviously hope to avoid. We always have to be primed for action since things can happen at short notice. The work done by our scouting department will continue over the next few months. The probability of us now losing any players who are considered a part of our core is very low. The players feel really comfortable here and lots of important players have only recently extended their contracts. I am pleased with the squad.”

…the loan for Kyu-Hyun Park: “Kyu-Hyun Park’s loan came about because of how strong the competition for places is here. It's a huge challenge to break through against the likes of Tony Jung and now Lee Buchanan. And for him as a young player it is important to play at the highest level possible. He's been playing in the Regionalliga during the last two years and he's performed really well there. So it's important for him to be able to prove himself at the next level. We've found a good solution for everyone involved.

…the development of Benjamin Goller: “Benny Goller has presented himself well and put in good performances in our friendlies. But that's no surprise because he has played in the first and second divisions over the last few years and is perhaps further along in his development than some other young players. As a staff we are really excited about him and he will have the chance to push himself more into the limelight here in Bremen.”

…a possible extension for Niclas Füllkrug: “Talks remain underway. The discussions are really positive and both sides know what they can offer one another. In that respect I'm confident that we can find a good compromise. Niclas feels at home here and obviously we want to continue working with him. We may well rely on him in the Bundesliga. We are working on it with the goal of finding a solution, but we still need to have another chat or two. It's pretty normal for these things to take time. It's a process and it takes as long as it takes.”

…the Bundesliga: “We've prepared really well so far but the Bundesliga requires another gear. We have to get our players ready for this league and get used to having less possession. We also have to instil a little control when we don't have the ball so that we don't end up on the wrong end of 70 or 80% possession every game. We are in a new league now and that presents a new challenge. We know that we are underdogs as a promoted side but we still want to give a good showing right from the off so that we can celebrate survival come the end of the season. We can’t set up completely defensively; we want to play attractive football. We don’t want to hide."
