SV Werder Bremen have made their first new signing for next season. Young talent Dikeni Salifou will join the club from FC Augsburg on a long-term contract.
“Dikeni is a really exciting player. He’s good technically, athletic and can play in a number of positions, such as in defensive midfield or in the centre of defence. He’s got a lot of potential and we’re excited that he’s chosen to continue his development here at SV Werder,” explained Clemens Fritz, head of professional football and scouting at Werder.
Salifou, currently part of Augsburg’s U19s, will immediately join up with Ole Werner’s first-team squad in the summer. “Dikeni has already trained with the first team in Augsburg and has made the bench a few times too. He will be with us right away and will get the chance to fight for a spot in the squad,” commented Ole Werner.
The new Werder man was excited about his new challenge in Bremen: “Werder is a massive club. I’m really looking forward to being a part of it. My conversations with the bosses were really positive and the sporting perspective they offered me convinced me that Bremen is the right place for me to continue my development.”
