Five Werder players away on international duty

After a last-minute 2-1 away win against 1. FC Nürnberg, five Werder players will head off on international duty. Serbia and Milos Veljkovic will have the chance to book their tickets to next year’s World Cup against Portugal on Sunday (14/11/2021), while a Werder duo have been selected for the Germany U21s squad again.

Manuel Mbom and Lars-Lukas Mai have been called up for the upcoming round of U21 EURO qualifiers by new Germany U21s head coach, Antonio Di Salvo. They will come up against Poland U21s on Friday (12/11, 18:15 CET) before facing San Marino U21s on Tuesday (16/11, 18:15 CET). Romano Schmid (Austria U21s) and Ilia Gruev (Bulgaria U21s) will also be away with their national sides.

Milos Veljkovic and Serbia have a big game coming up, as they will face Portugal in Lisbon on 14th November. The winner will be quaranteed first place in the group and will automatically qualify for next year’s tournament.
