After a dramatic end to the match, SV Werder Bremen have picked up their first win in the 2. Bundesliga. "I was impressed with how the team dealt with the set-backs. This win was so important, to finally win a competitive game again. You could see how much it meant, with the entire bench sprinting onto the pitch after we scored the winner," head coach Markus Anfang told WERDER.TV after the match.

WERDER.DE have summed up all the post-match reaction to tonight's away win.

On the end of the game:

Ömer Toprak: "It was a rollercoaster of emotions. First you're 2-1 up, then Düsseldorf start to press and have the crowd on their side and one slips through, which happens in football. We need to defend better there. But, if you score a last-minute winner then it's definitely a great way to win."

Maximilian Eggestein: "In terms of mentality, tonight's game was huge. After they equalised we thought that it was over, but then we were given another chance. I didn't think about it too much. After all, someone has to take it. Fortunately, it went in."

Markus Anfang: "The way we reacted was key. To concede an equaliser in the 94th minute is like losing. But to then press forward from the resulting kick off and to win a penalty was excellend from the team."

Josh Sargent: "We were caught in a tough spot in added time, but it's not an option to give up then. Maybe the football gods were on our side tonight."

On the start to the season:

Maximilian Eggestein: "We're not entirely happy because we really didn't play well against Hannover. We did better today, but we still need to improve. We had the chance to put the game to bed early tonight. We're pleased with the points, but still need to improve on the pitch. We need to get better week to week, and then the points will come as well."

Ömer Toprak: "We have four points now, which is okay. It's a process. We were relegated, were caught in a negative run and now we have a new style of play. Today was tough for much of the game, but we held fast. We have so many young players that it will simply take time, but results like this do help build confidence."

On the importance of the win:

Markus Anfang: "You could tell what a relief today's result was. When we scored to make it 3-2, everyone ran onto the pitch and celebrated together. It's incredibly important that you regain that winning feeling. You have to work to get that back, which is what we did tonight, even if we didn't play well for the first 15 minutes. Everyone could tell how tough it is to win games in the second division, but it's good that we were able to win the game in this manner."

Josh Sargent: "Of course I'm happy to have scored twice, but it doesn't really matter who scores. The key thing is that we finally won again. This result was important."
