Milot Rashica has returned to team training. The attacker took part in a number of sessions with his teammates on Tuesday, as preparations begin ahead of the game against Schalke 04. At this stage, a decision cannot yet be made on whether the 24-year-old will be an option for Saturday. “He had an intensive session with the fitness coach on Monday. We have to monitor how he handles the workload and observe him day-by-day,” said Clemens Fritz.

Ömer Toprak was the only first-team player to miss training through injury, while captain Niklas Moisander and Rashica took part in certain sessions. Kevin Möhwald completed the whole session in the afternoon, as he continues to work on his comeback after playing 70 minutes with the U23 squad against Atlas Delmenhorst. “It’s not easy when you’ve been out for so long. We have to have a bit of patience,” said Fritz.

Simon Straudi and Julian Rieckmann, who were part of the first-team squad during pre-season training, have returned to the U23s.
