Werder Bremen youth talent Kebba Badjie will remain a Green-White, with the 21-year-old attacker extending his contract at the club, signing his first professional deal in the process.
Badjie currently plays for Werder’s U23s, notching five goals and two assists in eight games so far in the currently suspended Regionalliga season. He was the team’s top scorer in the previous campaign. “Kebba has undergone a fantastic development in his one and a half years since joining us. We back him to take the next step and are delighted that he is keen to do that here at Werder Bremen,” said Frank Baumann.
“I’m happy to have extended my contract,” said Badjie. “Signing my first pro deal means a lot to me, particularly because Bremen has become my second home. I hope that I can pay back the faith put in me with good performances and that I can continue my positive development at Werder,” added the 21-year-old.
Kebba Badjie played in the Blumenthaler SV youth academy and in the U19 Bundesliga for Niendorfer TSV, before making to jump into VfL Oldenburg’s Regionalliga side. The Gambian joined the Werder U23s in summer 2019 and quickly became a key player in Konrad Fünfstück’s side. He has a total of 16 goals and five assists in his 32 Regionalliga appearances to date.
