The management at SV Werder Bremen have decided that Milot Rashica, Milos Veljkovic and Tahith Chong will not join up with their respective national sides.
The decision has been made as the areas to which the players would travel have been designated high-risk areas by the Robert-Koch-Institut. Rashica would play against Moldova in Pristina and Chong would join the Netherlands U21 squad in Zhodzina in Belarus. Veljkovic, who is recovering from a knock anyway, would have to travel to Russia and Serbia. The health authorities in Bremen have stated that the players would have to go into a five-day quarantine on return from a high-risk area, even if their Corona tests proved to be negative.
“Knowing all this, we and the players have decided that they shouldn’t join up with their national sides. That would also rule them out from playing in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, and we want to avoid that,” explains Frank Baumann, sporting director at Werder Bremen.
