It’s a new week, which means new hope for Niclas Füllkrug. After suffering a broken toe, the attacker is set to return to running training this week. It’s possible that Füllkrug could make his return from injury at this Saturday’s trip to Borussia Dortmund (kick off 15:30 CEST), explained Clemens Fritz.
“We’re optimistic that he’ll be ready to play,” said Fritz, who however didn’t have equally as positive news for Ludwig Augustinsson. “Ludde is receiving treatment and is currently training individually.” Fritz did not, however, rule out the Swede’s involvement in the game at home to Mainz the following Wednesday. Augustinsson was diagnosed with a thigh injury following the cup victory over Regensburg. Fritz said that the full back needs to be “monitored day by day”.
