SV Werder’s squad for the coming season continues to take shape with the signing of Patrick Erras from 1. FC Nürnberg. The 25-year-old, who came through FCN’s academy and spent 13 years there, has arrived on a free transfer.
“Patrick is a player who is still capable of developing. He can play as a defensive midfielder as well as a centre half in a back three. His qualities give us more options,” explained Frank Baumann.
Head coach Florian Kohfeldt was also pleased with the signing: “Patrick is a good passer of the ball, is robust and is also useful at set pieces with his height. We see potential for him to develop as a player with us.”
Patrick Erras is also looking forward to his move to Bremen: “I had 13 amazing years in Nürnberg, but I realised it was time for a change. Once Werder expressed interest in me, I knew I wanted to come here and I’m glad that the deal is done. Werder is a traditional club that has just had a tough season. I think everybody wants to change that and I can sense the unique spirit here. I want to play my part in the club’s improvement.”
Erras played 19 Bundesliga games and 61 Bundesliga 2 (9 goals) matches for 1. FC Nürnberg.
