Davie Selke will not remain with SV Werder Bremen for the upcoming campaign in the 2. Bundesliga. Relegation to the second tier means that the purchase clause in his loan contract has not been activated. The 26-year-old will now return to parent club Hertha BSC.

“We and Davie had hoped that he'd stay at Werder for longer. Werder became close to his heart – you could see that every time he was at the stadium. We wish him all the best for the future,” said sporting director Frank Baumann.

Davie Selke arrived on the Weser on loan from Hertha in January 2020. The attacker has played 34 games in green and white, scoring three times.
