Bad news for Werder Bremen: Defender Ömer Toprak will be out until the end of the year due to a muscular injury in his calf.
After feeling a problem in his calf during the warm-up for the game against Mönchengladbach and withdrawing from starting line-up, MRI scans have revealed the extent of Toprak’s injury. “It’s extremely unfortunate that Ömer will be out for a lengthy spell again. We will do everything we can to get him fully fit again as soon as possible but, sadly, it won’t be until the end of the year,” says head coach Florian Kohfeldt.
It’s yet another setback for Ömer Toprak since joining Werder. Nevertheless, the centre-back is determined to keep fighting: “I am obviously extremely disappointed with the injury. I now just have to keep my head up and work hard to recover.”
