Niklas Moisander is in contention for a start in the upcoming game against FSV Mainz 05. The captain missed out on Saturday’s defeat to Bayern Munich due to short term muscular problems, but took part in Sunday’s training session with the rest of the team who didn’t feature at the weekend. “Niklas looked in good shape yesterday. We will make the decision after training today if he will be able to play tomorrow,” Florian Kohfeldt announced in the pre-match press conference.
Philipp Bargfrede could also be in line for an appearance tomorrow; however he remains a “doubt” for the game. The central midfielder picked up a thigh injury in Friday’s training session ahead of the trip to Munich, and could also miss out on tomorrow’s fixture against Mainz. “We will try everything we can to make him fit in time,” said Kohfeldt.
Thedor Gebre Selassie is ruled out for the game after picking up a nasty thigh injury against Munich, and will be on the sidelines for a matter of months. On the other hand, Leonardo Bittencourt has been given the “all-clear” after being limited to a short cameo against Bayern due to a stomach bug. The midfielder is now “completely back to full fitness.”
