Match summary: It was an entertaining game of football at the wohninvest WESERSTADION. Werder made a perfect start to the game, and were rewarded for their efforts in the opening minutes as Josh Sargent gave them the lead (7’). The Green-Whites defended well and moved the ball around the pitch effectively. One of the reasons why the first half was so entertaining to watch was because of the impressive pass accuracy of both teams, as both sides racked up more than a 90% success rate. Overall, SVW were the better side but they struggled to take their chances and ultimately failed to add to their lead. Dodi Lukebakio was then subbed on and Hertha immediately looked much more of a threat, with the substitute breaking through the Bremen defence to score in the 70th minute with a nice finish. Werder tried to grab the winner in the closing minutes of the game, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
