Head coach Florian Kohfeldt has a full squad to choose from ahead of the second leg of Werder’s relegation play-off on Monday evening. Only captain Niklas Moisander, who picked up two yellow cards and was sent off in the first leg against 1. FC Heidenheim, is unavailable for Monday’s match. Kevin Vogt is able to play against following his suspension. Sebastian Langkamp is also available for selection.
This means that Werder’s coach can draw on plenty of talent ahead of the game against FCH. “The squad looks good. All the players who are able to play and have been there in the last couple of days will be there on Monday,” said head coach Florian Kohfeldt at the official press conference on Sunday.
Suspended captain Niklas Moisander’s left-centre-back position can be filled by any number of players, says Kohfeldt. “Basically, it will be either Ömer Toprak, Sebastian Langkamp, or Marco Friedl. It’s also possible that Milos Veljkovic could swap sides. We’ll speak to everyone again then decide. It could also be the case that we split the game between Basti and Ömer,” said Kohfeldt.
In addition to the defensive concerns, there are also many options going forward, especially in regard to Niclas Füllkrug. “He will definitely play an important role on Monday. He’s started the last few games, but it’s also an option to bring him on later in the match. At the end of the day I’ll have to make a decision on where I see him tactically,” explained Kohfeldt.
