Niklas Moisander will not be making an appearance against VfL Wolfsburg. The captain is still not fit enough to make a Bundesliga appearance following an injury, explained head coach Florian Kohfeldt on Friday. “Wolfsburg is not an option for him. The goal is for him to complete a full week of training before the game against Paderborn,“ said Kohfeldt. The 34-year-old is expected to make his comeback against Paderborn.

Apart from the long-term injured, all the other Werder players are ready for the game against Wolfsburg. Ludwig Augustinsson, who did not train on Tuesday, is once again a possibility to make the starting eleven. “Ludde played very well against Schalke, and was a real ray of light. He gave us stability, but was also strong in his actions too,” said Kohfeldt. The Swede’s knee also did not trouble him, but he was granted a break from midweek training nevertheless to give him “the necessary freshness” after his 90-minute stint against Schalke.

It will take a bit longer for Fin Bartels. The long-term injured player, who is also currently lacking in team training, should continue to be treated as a "rehab player". "He's part of the team training, but his goal is still to train with us on Mallorca," said Kohfeldt, referring to the winter training camp in January.
