SV Werder Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeldt has signed a contract extension to stay with the club until 2023.
“Florian and his coaching team have performed exceptionally in recent months. Since taking over the role as head coach in October 2017, Florian has helped the team make a lot of progress. Florian has a clear belief of the individual and team role each player has on the pitch and has helped to shape the attractive, attacking style of football we are playing today,” explained Werder sporting director Baumann, who was full of praise for the 36 year-old’s style of coaching. “You can see how he wants to improve the team every day and how much passion he feels for his job. Consequently, we are even more delighted that he has decided to commit his future to the club. He has made it clear once more the close connection he has to Werder Bremen.”
Florian Kohfeldt is also delighted to continue his work at the club. “I received the opportunity to perform as a young coach during a difficult time at the club. I’m delighted that I have created a good foundation for the future over the course of the last two years. I’m convinced this is just the beginning for the club. I’m pleased to continue my work with the coaching team. Together, we have succeeded in promoting development at Werder and we have left the fans, the city of Bremen and the whole region wanting more. I’m delighted that we are able to continue this journey together.”
Florian Kohfeldt was appointed SV Werder Bremen head coach at the end of October 2017, leaving his role as the Green-Whites U23s head coach. Kohfeldt led Werder to Bundesliga survival in his opening season, securing an eleventh place finish. Last season, Kohfeldt’s side narrowly missed out on European qualification as they finished the season in eighth place.
