Johannes Eggestein captained Germany U21s once again as they defeated Wales 5-1 in their first Euro qualifying game. The attacker scored a header just before half time to make it 4-0.

Yuya Osako and Japan celebrated a 2-0 win in their World Cup qualifier over Myanmar. Werder’s striker played the full 90 minutes. Shoya Nakajima (16’) and Takumi Minamino (26’) scored Japan’s goals. It was their opening game in Group F, with games to come against Tajikistan, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan.

Jiri Pavlenka didn’t feature for the Czech Republic in their 3-0 victory in Montenegro. His country sits in second place in Group A behind England and ahead of Milot Rashica’s Kosovo.

Josh Sargent played 75 minutes in his hometown St. Louis in the US’s 1-1 draw with Uruguay. Jordan Morris, who was on trial with Werder in January 2016, scored the goal for America in the friendly game.
