Bad news for Werder Bremen: Defender Theodor Gebre Selassie sustained a serious thigh injury in Saturday’s Bundesliga game in Munich. Gebre Selassie will therefore be set to be spending a long time on the sidelines. The right-back unfortunately got stuck in the grass during a challenge on the pitch.

“It is completely awful. In Theo’s case, several areas of the thigh are affected, so we will definitely not have him available for training, as well as the first few weeks of the second half of the season,” explained head coach Florian Kohfeldt.

“Of course it’s very annoying because we have two very important games coming up and I would have loved to have been a part of them. Now I will do everything I can to get back on the pitch as quickly as possible,” said Theodor Gebre Selassie.
