The Germany U21 national team have reached the final of the European Chamionships after a 4-2 win over surprise package Romania in the semi final on Thursday. Werder’s Maximilian Eggestein completed 88 minutes in extremely high temperatures in Bologna, with Johannes Eggestein an unused substitute.

Despite Nadiem Amiri’s opener (21’), Stefan Kuntz’ side did not take a lead into half time. A brace from Romania’s George Puscas (26’, 44’) saw Romania ahead at the break. After the change of ends, Luca Waldscmidt’s penalty leveled the game before the striker put the Germans ahead again just 60 seconds before the end of regular time with his seventh of the tournament. An Amiri free kick in the fourth minute of added time secured the victory for the Germans.

The final will be played on Sunday (30/06) at 20:45 CEST. Germany will play the winner of Spain vs France, which takes place at 21:00 CEST.
