A new challenge for Clemens Fritz: the former Germany international, Werder captain and honorary club captain will take on the role of head of scouting. He will lead and also strategically develop the entire scouting department.
“Clemens Fritz will take the next step in his career. He deserves this opportunity with his diligence and curiosity, but also with his empathy and emotional intelligence. His responsibilities will include not only the strategy and administration of the department, but also helping to shape and co-ordinate planning and performance for the players. He will continue to look after our players until the end of the season, in a role he has already been part of for the past few months. He can also consolidate and expand his networks,” explained Frank Baumann, sporting director at Werder Bremen.
Fritz is delighted with the confidence placed in him. “During my trainee program, I was able to gain valuable insights into a wide range of business areas and found that I saw my future in the sporting field. It is here that I can best contribute my skills. I am looking forward to a new challenge and many new tasks. "
Clemens Fritz played for Werder Bremen from 2006 to 2017, winning the DFB-Pokal with head coach Thomas Schaaf’s side in 2009, and played a total of 363 competitive games for the Green and Whites. After the conclusion of his playing career, Fritz completed a training program at Werder Bremen and most recently worked in scouting.
