Davy Klaassen: “It definitely wasn’t a perfect game from us. Wolfsburg were strong at the back and made it hard to break them down. As a result, the goal before the break was vital and the second at the end was equally useful.”
Johannes Eggestein: “We already experienced how frustrating it is to concede a late equaliser at home to Nürnberg. I’m pleased we managed to see the game out this time. You have to win these kinds of games if you want to be near the top of the table.”
Florian Kainz: “It was a difficult game and real hard work. We didn’t start that well and only got going after 20 minutes. The goal was extremely important. We were too defensive and deep in the second half, and should have been more effective on the counter. Nevertheless, we are happy to have won this game in front of our fans.”
Max Kruse: “Wolfsburg put in a good away performance tonight. They studied us well before the game and it took us half an hour to sort ourselves out. At the moment we have a knack of scoring goals at the right times. We also got it right with the subs tonight.”
Florian Kohfeldt: “It wasn’t our best game, but you can’t forget the quality of the opponent. They played very well and got their tactics spot on. It was difficult to defend against them as well. We took time to get into the game, had a bit of luck and then got our goal. Afterwards we should have we really doubled our lead. The lads showed tonight that they are capable of overcoming difficult phases in games and that they can react to changes too.”
