Player in focus: Khama Billiat has been Kaizer Chiefs’ talisman this season. The attacking midfielder has scored four times already in the 15 games his side have played and assisted four more. The 28-year-old is the club’s top scorer as a result. Billiat was born in Harare and has been a Zimbabwe international since 2011. In 25 games for Zimbabwe he has scored nine goals.
Looking ahead to the game: Kaizer Chiefs find themselves currently in sixth place in the South African league and have struggled to rediscover their good from from last season as of yet. The Bundesliga is certainly a higher standard than the South African league, but the Chiefs are blessed with some brilliant facilities and will look to get back to their old heights under the leadership of the returnung Ernst Middendorp. “It is a very important week for us and a good oppurtunity to get some game experience under our belt. I’m really looking forward to the game,” says Middendorp to WERDER.DE. The game will be played out in a slightly different format to the usual two halves of 45 minutes each. Instead, the encounter will be split into four quarters of 25 minutes each. It gives both teams the chance to play as many players as possible and try out a few different tactical approaches. As a result, the final score is not of particular importance in this instance, even if the Green-Whites will still be looking to win the game. The overarching aim is to prepare as best as possible for the upcoming Rückrunde.
