Nuri Sahin has now been at Werder for over three months and has become an important part of Florian Kohfeldt’s. The 30 year-old has experienced a lot so far in his career. Sahin is the youngster player to have ever played in the Bundesliga and went on to win the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund as well as playing in Spain with Real Madrid and in England with Liverpool. Now, Sahin is playing in Bremen and wants to help achieve some ambitious targets with the Green-Whites.
A few years ago, Nuri Sahin signing for Werder Bremen would’ve been inconceivable. “A couple of years ago, I couldn’t have imagined where else I would play,” said Sahin. However, after a long period out with injury and structural changes at Borussia Dortmund, it was clear to the 30 year-old that “it would be better for me to leave and try something different.”
In the end, the high profile transfer from black and yellow to the Green-Whites wasn’t a difficult decision for Sahin. “I received the offer from Bremen and held discussions with Frank Baumann and coach Florian Kohfeldt. It quickly became clear: ‘Nuri, this move makes a lot of sense.’ Werder Bremen is a club with a lot of tradition and ambition. I have always enjoyed playing here in the Weser-Stadion,” explained the midfielder. Sahin has made eight appearances for Werder so far this season, scoring once and providing one assist.
