In the end, Werder couldn’t have done much more apart from score. The chances were there in the second half. “It’s good that we put in such a convincing performance against a team competing towards the top of the league. On balance, we didn’t get enough from the game though,” said Frank Baumann after the match.

WERDER.DE recorded all the post match reactions.

On the game:

Florian Kohfeldt: “Hoffenheim deserved to go in front. After they did we played a good game and had a lot of good chances but couldn’t get the goal we needed. That’s why I’m slightly annoyed by the result. The style of our football and our overall development were positive, though. We will recoup now and go to Leipzig on Saturday with the aim of getting the win.”

Davy Klaassen: “I don’t think I’ve ever played a game where a team has had so many chances and so few goals.”

Frank Baumann: “Hoffenheim were better at the start and deserved to go in front. In the second half we were braver and more convincing, which is important for our game.”

Ludwig Augustinsson: “Above all, I think we played well in the second half. We had chances and should have scored at least one goal. The guys showed today that we’re a strong team.”

Kevin Möhwald: "We put in the effort and the performance, but there are days when the ball doesn't want to go in the net."

Max Kruse: “At the end of the day you need to win these games when you want to play in the big leagues. Today we could have got the three points. There are days, however, when the ball just doesn’t want to go in the net.”

On the Leipzig game:

Florian Kohfeldt: “For the boys there are two alcohol free beers and a dip in the ice bin and then we will be fit and raring to go for Leipzig. I’m generally quite optimistic because a lot of the things that were good today are repeatable.”

Kevin Möhwald: “We took another step forward today. We want to repeat this performance in Leipzig on Saturday in our last game of the year.”

Frank Baumann: “The team will take the positives and work on the negatives. I’m convinced that we’ll put in a good performance against Leipzig on Saturday.”

On Nuri Sahin’s injury:

Frank Baumann: “Nuri picked up a slight injury in the final training session yesterday and it was hurting today. He’s not in danger of being out for the game on Saturday.”
