December has been a good month so far for Kevin Möhwald. The summer arrival from Nürnberg has found some form and found a way into the Werder starting lineup through hard work and desire. However, the 25 year-old still hasn’t reached his top of his game since joining the Green-Whites.

Initially, Kevin Möhwald found it difficult to find his feet in unfamiliar surroundings. The Erfurt born midfielder required longer than expected to familiarise himself with life in Bremen. Möhwald had to face the challenge of stepping up to the higher level of Bundesliga football after making 93 appearances in the second tier. He had a clear aim: “I want to be included in the coach’s starting lineup,” said the 25 year-old.

Möhwald has started twice for the Green-Whites so far this season, scoring his first goal for club in a convincing performance at home to Fortuna Düsseldorf. The midfielder played 162 minutes in just four days and put in another strong performance at Dortmund against the most prolific attack in the league. “I always knew what I can do and what was missing to become an option for the team,” explains Möhwald regarding his personal development at Werder. “There is still room for improvement though. I can most importantly improve in the final third and my defensive cooperation. I am still not a complete player and constantly try to improve my game.”

Möhwald is currently working and playing so well to be given a guarantee of featuring in Leipzig on Saturday (15:30 CET) from coach Florian Kohfeldt. He said “we cannot read too much into the trip Leipizig. Kevin plays” and that “isn’t a Christmas present but the result of his hard work over the last few weeks.”
