Kevin Möhwald is fit again after a thigh strain and completed a full training session with the team on Tuesday afternoon. “Kevin is in good condition,” explained head coach Florian Kohfeldt. The midfielder is now a candidate to make the squad for the first Bundesliga game of the season this Saturday (26th August) against Hannover 96 (15:30 CEST kick off). This has been mainly due to his treatment. “We have chosen a very reasonable, already conservative structure for him and gave him all of last week, just to be sure of his recovery,” the Werder coach explained.

However, questions still remain regarding Martin Harnik’s recovery. The Austrian has already been back in training but whether or not he will be ready for Saturday’s home game against his former club remains unclear. Kohfeldt stressed that he trained alone yesterday morning and that there is still hope but it will be a race against time. Werder’s number nine is supposed to return to training with the rest of the squad on Friday. “Then we will see, whether it makes sense to include him in the squad,” Kohfeldt said.

Jaroslav Drobny should also complete further parts of his training this week. “Drobo has completed the final parts of his rehabilitation training. He is on his way back,” assured Kohfeldt, who wants to focus training on offensive teamwork while also improving the defence.
