Luca Zander will not be returning to SV Werder Bremen. The 23-year-old has completed a permanent transfer to FC St. Pauli, where he has spent the last two seasons on loan.

"We can only see limited opportunities for Luca to play for Werder in the Bundesliga. At St. Pauli he’s enjoyed a lot of game time in the second division, and he is happy there. So for him, it was the obvious step to continue playing there. We wish Luca all the best for the future," explained managing director Frank Baumann.

In 2006, Luca Zander joined the Werder academy from SC Weyhe and worked his way up into the senior teams. He made two Bundesliga appearances for the first team, 45 in the third division and 16 in the Regionalliga. In 2017, he was loaned out to FC St. Pauli, where he has since made 30 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga. Currently, he is recovering from a broken shoulder.
