++ 100% Werder: Max Kruse posted a live video on Facebook, squashing the circulating transfer rumours and confirming that he will remain a Werder player for the coming season. “I feel completely at home. All the speculation really irritated me. I am 100 percent staying. I never suggested any other outcome”, said Kruse. He continued, “We’ve got some great new signings with Davy, Claudio and my pal Martin Harnik. We’ve been working hard in training and have prepared well as a team.” Werder’s number ten hammered home the fact that he's looking forward to a great season with the Green-Whites. +++

++ Away game at home: The Klaassen clan couldn’t miss out on the latest trip. Just two days after signing, Davy Klaassen was playing in the Netherlands once again. His girlfriend Laura Benschop and mother both travelled to Groningen to watch him play. But it wasn’t really a classic “home match” for the 16-time capped Dutch international. He was subbed on to a barrage of whistles from the stands. It turns out Klaassen’s former club Ajax Amsterdam are bitter rivals of the Groningen loyalists. +++

++ The Return: Jiri Pavlenka stood between the sticks once again for Werder and gave a good performance. Jaroslav Drobny had also recovered from his muscle strain and came on for the second half. However, after only eleven minutes on the pitch, Drobo’s comeback was cut short. The back-up keeper was subbed off after sustaining a calf injury. +++

++ Unbelievable support: Werder’s new signings were greeted by a rapturous welcome on Sunday in Groningen, which set the tone for the Green-White travelling fans this season. Over 1000 Werder fans made the trip to the Netherlands. “Arriving in Groningen for a friendly on a Sunday afternoon and finding the away section full to the rafters. Just phenomenal.", said Florian Kohfeldt. +++

++ Pizarro steals the show from Osako: With his first press conference, Yuya was set to be presented to the Werder fans on Sunday morning. However, the signing of Claudio Pizarro somewhat overshadowed the unveiling of the Japanese striker. “It’s a real shame. Yuya is a top signing for us, who showed at the World Cup what a brilliant player he is” emphasised Frank Baumman during an interview with Radio Bremen TV. What’s clear is that Osako will have the chance to attract due attention over the course of the season.

++ Pizarro wears number four: The internet was awash with celebration about the return of Claudio Pizarro. The Peruvian has come back to the Weser for a fourth stint and his kit number reflects that. Piza will don the number four jersey for SVW this season. He made the choice himself after a selection of kit numbers in the past. When he first signed for Werder in 1999, Claudio was given the number 10 shirt. During his second stint he wore 24, then changed to 14. Michael Zetterer has also been awarded a new number. Zetti will wear the number 16 jersey from now on. +++
